About Am-Can Business & Tech School

Am-Can Business & Tech School is an Ontario private secondary school in Vaughan, offering Grade 9 to 12 courses toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

We do one thing. You take one credit course at a time on a fixed six week schedule, taught by an Ontario Certified Teacher who contacts you individually every week. Twenty-six courses, six sessions a year, 110 scheduled hours in every course.

Why we are built this way

Most online credit providers sell a self-paced course you can start on any day and finish within twelve months. We do the opposite. Sessions start on six fixed dates a year and run for six study weeks. Work is released weekly and has weekly deadlines, and everyone in a course moves through it together. There is no continuous intake.

Six weeks of structure finishes courses.

Two ways to study

Every course is delivered online and asynchronously. There are no set class times and no live lessons to attend. You choose one of two attendance formats when you enrol, and you may ask to change between sessions.

  • 100% online, remote and asynchronous. You study wherever you are, within each week's deadlines. Nothing requires you to be online at a set time, and there is no minimum synchronous requirement.
  • In class at the Vaughan campus. You come to the campus and work through the same asynchronous online course in a classroom or the computer room, with staff present to supervise and assist. School computers are available, so you do not need your own equipment.

The course is identical either way: same portal, same materials, same 110 scheduled hours, same weekly milestones and deadlines, same assessments and rubrics, same assigned teacher and the same final mark composition.

Campus attendance is a facility we provide, not a requirement of any course. A student in the in class format who studies from home on a given day is not marked absent, because attendance is measured by the weekly milestones and never by physical presence. Both formats therefore earn an online learning credit under PPM 167.
